"Shimmer" Earrings

"Shimmer" Earrings

These earrings are a mix of copper and sterling silver.

Dangling from the earwire is a teardrop shape of copper, onto which I have melted sterling silver.  The melting of the silver onto the copper binds them together, and the silver "reticulates" or creates hills and valleys ~ texture ~ that is unique on each piece.

After reticulating the silver onto the copper, I polish the silver to a high shine, leaving the darks in some of the low points to highlight the great texture that is created.  The backs are sealed with a microcrystaline wax, but the red, heated copper is still visible.  Then, they are gently shaped into a bit of a "u" to create even more opportunity to capture the light & create movement when worn.  These are just fun and fancy free!

Added to the front of the teardrop is a small circle of pure sterling silver.  I have added patina, then polished to create a warm, deep hue.  These dangle in front of the reticulation adding even more motion and glimmer without adding length or weight.

Rustic.  Refined.  A light shimmer.

Please note the size in the photograph.  These earrings will hang just a bit longer than 1.5" from the earlobe.  The teardrop is almost 3/4" in width at the widest point.

All of my earrings come gently packaged in my signature hand made cloth pouch, perfect for gifting or for carrying with when you travel.  I hope you love your new earrings!

  • Care Instructions

Caring for your new jewelry is easy.  The best way to care for it, is to wear it!!  Jewelry that is worn tarnishes more slowly, so wear and enjoy.

Should you notice a bit of tarnish, you may use a Sunshine Cloth or any other dry polish cloths.  Please avoid any pastes or liquids when polishing.  If you have a piece with stones, please note that anything liquid or paste may harm the stones or discolor them.

If trying to sanitize, sterling silver jewelry may be wiped gently with alcohol.  Avoid rubbing alcohol on the stones - I can't guarantee the results.  Please also avoid using bleach on sterling silver, as it will turn black.  If it does, a polish with a Sunshine cloth will have it good as new!!
