Leland Blue, Green CZ and Sterling Silver Necklace -

Leland Blue, Green CZ and Sterling Silver Necklace -

This is a truly one-of-a-kind necklace, and although not large in size, it's large enough to make a statement!

A beautiful, triangular cut Leland Blue Stone has been set in sterling and fine silver - a bit formed to look like a tree branch - and embellished with a bright green CZ.  The chain is hand made, and all sterling.  The clasp is hand made.  Rustic and refined.

The story of the Leland Blue Stone is not exactly as alluring as finding one on the beaches in northern Michigan. The Leland Blue Stone is actually slag – a waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. Leland Blue stones have a very wide range of colors and shapes, the name being a bit misleading. There’s a huge variation in stones, from shades of green, purple, and gray to the more traditional blue stones that are often pitted from air bubbles… however, these imperfections are what can add beauty to the stones – including range in color and overall texture.

I adore Leland Blue, mainly because of those little air pockets and differences in color.  It's one of my favorite stones.  This specimen piece has both a pitted, organic looking section, along with a smoother, more intense section.  The variations in the blue are quite beautiful, and is almost turquoise in color in places.

This is a  rugged necklace, and yet delicate,  and will stand up to a lot of wear and tear.   I would suggest to avoid swimming while wearing the necklace, however.

Please check the photo for the length of the necklace.  This necklace is  20" in length, including the clasp and catch.   The main focal area, including the Leland Blue stone is about 1 3/4" by 1 1/2".

This would feel at home with jeans and a t-shirt as well as a little black dress. This piece is one-of-a-kind, and you will receive the exact necklace pictured.

All of my pieces are made one at a time in my little northern Michigan studio.  It will arrive carefully packaged in a handmade cloth pouch, suitable for gifting or carrying your new necklace with you when you travel.  I hope you love your new necklace!

  • Care Instructions

Caring for your new jewelry is easy.  The best way to care for it, is to wear it!!  Jewelry that is worn tarnishes more slowly, so wear and enjoy.

Should you notice a bit of tarnish, you may use a Sunshine Cloth or any other dry polish cloths.  Please avoid any pastes or liquids when polishing.  If you have a piece with stones, please note that anything liquid or paste may harm the stones or discolor them.

If trying to sanitize, sterling silver jewelry may be wiped gently with alcohol.  Avoid rubbing alcohol on the stones - I can't guarantee the results.  Please also avoid using bleach on sterling silver, as it will turn black.  If it does, a polish with a Sunshine cloth will have it good as new!!
